The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Educational Technology is rightfully considered the oldest department at IKSU – it has existed since the founding day of our educational institution.

Over the years, the department has been called the Department of Higher Mathematics, the Department of Mathematical Analysis, the Department of Algebra and Geometry, the Department of Mathematics, and after the merger of the departments of “Higher Mathematics” and “Applied Mathematics”, it was called the “Department of Theoretical and Applied Mathematics”. The department was headed by such Doctors and Candidates of Physical and Mathematical Sciences as Salamatov Zh.S., Abdyldaev A.A., Gorzhalsan I.M., Mukanov T.A., Associate Professor Mamyrov Zh. From 2001 to 2015, the department was headed by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Togochuev Azyrbek Zhaparovich, after him, from 2015 to 2018, the head of the department was Senior Lecturer, Excellence in Education, Distinguished Teacher Erkinbaev M.A. From 2018 to 2021, the head of the department was Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Baiserkeeva A.B.

Currently, the department is headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Dzhaparova S.N.

Faculty of the Department:

– Candidates of Sciences – 4

– Associate Professor – 1

– Senior Lecturers – 6

– Lecturers – 3

– Laboratory Assistants – 1

Candidates of Sciences: Dzhaparova S.N., Isabekov K.A., Baibolotov B.A., Baiserkeeva A.B., Madanbekova E.E.; Senior Lecturers: Erkinbaev M.A., Sartpaev E.K., Sadyrbaev K.B., Tologozhoeva N.O., Bapa kyzy A., Moldakunova N.K.; Lecturers: Makeeva S.A., Nazarbaeva M.T., Omurbekova Sh.O.

The faculty members of the department are among the best graduates of different years from the Mathematics Faculty of the K. Tynystanov Issyk-Kul State University.

The department traditionally offers courses in mathematical analysis, analytical geometry, algebra and number theory, numerical methods, mathematical logic and theory of algorithms, discrete mathematics, methods of teaching mathematics and computer science, theoretical foundations of the initial course of mathematics, and other mathematical and methodological disciplines.

Since 2012, when the higher education system of our country joined the Bologna process and introduced a two-tier system of higher professional education, the department started training Bachelor’s degree students in the profiles “Mathematics” and “Computer Science” within the direction 550200 “Physical and Mathematical Education”. Before that, it produced specialists with the qualification “Mathematics Teacher”. During this time, the department developed curricula, work programs and syllabi, teaching and methodological complexes of disciplines, programs of pedagogical practices, methodological guides, corresponding to the new state educational standards of the direction “Physical and Mathematical Education”. Lecturers Bapa kyzy A. and Moldakunova N. developed online courses on higher mathematics, analytical geometry, and preparation for the Unified National Testing on the educational portal of IKSU moodle.iksu.kg.

In 2015, the department prepared for the opening of a Master’s degree program in the profile “Mathematics” within the direction 550200 “Physical and Mathematical Education”.

The faculty of the department are actively involved in research activities. The scientific topics of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Dzhaparova S.N., Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Isabekov K.A., Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Baibolotov B.A., Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Madanbekova E.E., and Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Baiserkeeva A.B., and Lecturer Moldakunova N.K. focus on the development of mathematical methods for studying the stability of rocks. A group of lecturers Tologozhoeva N.O., Dzhaparova S.N., Erkinbaev M.A., Bapa kyzy A., and Koomanova Zh.K. are researching issues related to the methodology of teaching mathematics and computer science in schools and universities.

The department organizes courses for deepening knowledge of mathematics for school students, where 10th and 11th graders from the city of Karakol and its surroundings strengthen their knowledge of mathematics. These courses are led by Associate Professor, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Baibolotov B.A., and taught by Lecturers Madanbekova E.E., Bapa kyzy A., and Moldakunova N.K. Additionally, Associate Professor Baibolotov B.A. is the initiator of developing mental arithmetic and robotics in the city of Karakol.
