We used the KAHOOT application, collected puzzles, actively participated in the discussion of interesting issues, watched a video about the Mediterranean countries, and conducted a survey based on the video. The results have been summed up. The winners received prizes.

04/18/02024 students of groups T-11, T-21, T-31 of the direction “Tourism” had an excursion at the Madanur hotel.

Hotel “Madanur” is located near the center of Karakol and has been successfully operating since 2008. All these years, the hotel has been confidently ranked among the best hotels in the city of Karakol. The introductory lecture was given by the hotel manager Balakhisheva Madina Sabyrovna. During the excursion, the manager told the students how the process of compliance with international hotel business standards is going on at the Madanur Hotel. Sustainable tourism development and sustainability management practices are applicable to all forms of tourism in all types of tourism destinations, including various segments, including the hotel business. Sustainability principles relate to the environmental, economic and socio-cultural aspects of tourism development. And to ensure long-term sustainability, a balance must be struck between the three dimensions. Adhering to the principles of sustainability, now for greater comfort at the Madanur Hotel, guests are provided with disposable slippers, shampoo, shower gel, soap, toothbrush. The manager also touched upon the issues of sorting garbage and household waste. A student of group T-41, Miyat kyzy Gauhar, underwent pre-graduation internship at the Madanur hotel. She told how work is carried out when booking rooms, checking in and out of guests, room service, etc. Students got acquainted with the rooms, the Sierra coffee shop, the hostel, the conference room, and the room for sorting garbage and household waste. Students actively participated in the conversation, asked questions with interest, and expressed their opinions about waste disposal. Today, the hotel has become one step closer to international hotel business standards, supporting the concept of Sustainable Tourism. Such excursions are very important for students in their studies and subsequent employment.

Guest lecture “First Aid”

04/24/2024 Trainer of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Adybaev Tynchtykbek Esengulovich gave a guest lecture on the topic “First Aid” to students studying in the field of “Tourism” of the Department of Tourism and Environmental Protection. During the guest lecture, the trainer spoke about the importance of understanding, skill and providing first aid to tourists and all people who need to provide first aid in emergencies. A tourist going to the mountains or rafting, hiking or on a city tour or other tourist attractions often always involves a potential risk to health and life. And if a hiker has enough life experience to treat minor injuries, then in case of serious injuries and conditions one should know and be able to provide first aid. Giving first aid is an important skill. First aid is a set of non-medical measures that are aimed at saving lives and are performed by any person nearby. It is carried out voluntarily and lasts until the arrival of doctors and delivery to the hospital. If resources and skills are limited, then only reporting the victim and calling rescuers is already considered first aid. Students were shown methods and techniques for providing first aid in various situations on a mannequin. Students also asked questions about safety on the street, in case of car accidents, fire, earthquake, burns, etc. Students received important and useful information at the beginning of the opening of the summer season for tourists and guests of the city of Karakol.

04/29/2024, a meeting was held between students in the field of “Tourism” and a master’s student from the Swiss University Haute Ecole specialisee de Suisee occidentale HES-SO and Haute Ecolede destion Arc-HEG Arc Alexandre Fatton, who came to Kyrgyzstan to write a master’s thesis on the topic “Development of tourism in Issyk-Kul region.” He told the students how tourism is developing in Switzerland, what recommendations he can give based on the results of the research on his master’s work for businessmen from Kyrgyzstan, what points are common to both Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland. Alexandre Fatton noted that the natural conditions, the mountains, are very similar, and also said that he really likes Lake Issyk-Kul. The only difference between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland is that they do not have such a large lake as ours. The main problem that he drew attention to is that the promotion of Kyrgyzstan as a tourist country is not very well established, and there is no entertainment program for tourists in the evenings. We considered legal issues of doing business, as well as the main sectors of economic development in the Issyk-Kul region as a whole.

Currently, the graduates of the department work in various spheres of tourism activity (travel agencies, hotels, catering companies and others) both in the regions of Kyrgyzstan and abroad.
